CO2 Laser Resurfacing & Patient Results

“The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser was introduced in the early 1990’s for facial resurfacing. It is used for facial wrinkles, acne scarring and uneven skin pigmentation.

The carbon dioxide laser is still considered the gold standard for the most severe wrinkling and scarring. However, Dr. Williams admits has been using this less frequently in his practice since most patients are not willing to tolerate the recovery period of being extremely red for a couple of weeks and two to three months of looking like they have a mild sunburn.

The redness can be covered up after two to three weeks but patients still remain pink. For most, the results are worth the recovery, since the laser can cover even the most severe wrinkling and acne scarring.
