Laser Cutter in School | Anatomy Project | School Project Ideas

This week Justin, a co-op student from John Fraser Secondary School in Mississauga, ON created an amazing anatomy school project using the Trotec Speedy 360 laser engraver, the SP2000 laser cutter, a MakerBot 3D printer and the Mimaki UV printer.

He first photographed his hand, which he UV printed onto a piece of acrylic with registration marks. The JobControl Vision camera system read the registration marks and cut exactly around the hand.

For the muscles, bones and veins layers, Justin hand-drew all them all and imported it into the graphics software. He converted the files to vectors and properly optimized them for the laser.

For the base, he used 15mm TroGlass clear acrylic that he cut on the SP2000 large format laser cutter, and 3D printed a scalpel on the MakerBot (designed he found on Thingiverse).
