Precautions during the use of lasers in winter

Many customers and friends don’t know how to maintain the laser in winter. Today, let me summarize some common knowledge about laser maintenance.

1、 Precautions:

Winter is a high frequency period for laser failures, and it is easy to freeze during use in winter. To ensure normal use of the laser in winter, users should pay attention to the following points:

1. The operating environment temperature of the laser water chiller must be above 0 ℃. If the ambient temperature is too low (especially in the north), once the laser water chiller is stopped, it will cause the water in the waterway system to freeze, affecting the normal use of the equipment, and in serious cases, damage to the entire refrigeration system.

2. When the ambient temperature of the equipment is between 0 ℃ and – 10 ℃, if the laser machine and water chiller stop working (such as power failure) and no antifreeze is added, the water in the water system must be drained in a timely manner.

3. Add the specified antifreeze to the laser, and the ratio of antifreeze: deionized water is 1:2. After adding antifreeze, it can resist – 20 degrees Celsius without freezing.

4. The antifreeze has a certain degree of corrosivity, so please replace it with normal cooling water after winter, and before that, clean the entire water circuit and clean the antifreeze;

5. Use compressed air or nitrogen (at a pressure of about 5 bar) to drain the water in the laser, and manually drain the water in the water pump and pipeline of the chiller. When the water chiller is in operation, it will not cause equipment to freeze and cause damage. It is required that the water in the waterway system (including the laser machine) must be truly drained.

2、 Drainage method:

1. Laser drainage method: After disconnecting the water pipe, use compressed air or nitrogen (at a pressure of about 5 bar) to aim at the water inlet and outlet and blow water for about one minute to drain the water inside the laser.

2. Water tank drainage method: Open the drain valve at the bottom of the water tank to drain off the water in the tank. If necessary, tilt the water cooler at a certain angle to make the drain outlet at the lowest point.

3. Drainage in the pipeline: Use compressed air or nitrogen (with a pressure of about 5 bar) to blow for about one minute from the inlet and outlet of low temperature water and high temperature water respectively, and drain water from the outlet of the water tank.

4. Water pump head drainage: There is a drain screw at the lower part of each water pump head. When the water cooler needs to be stopped and transported for a long time, it is necessary to open the drain screw at the pump head to drain the water in the water pump. It is best to use compressed air or nitrogen (with a pressure of about 5 bar) to blow it out, and then tighten the drain screw.

5. Drain the filter: Open the drain valve or housing of the filter to drain the remaining water.

3. Key points and handling methods for startup inspection:

1. After starting the water chiller, first check the readings on the cooling water pressure gauge and the normal temperature water pressure gauge. If there is a pressure or flow alarm, it is necessary to pay attention to whether there are valves in the waterway system that are not open or there is a possibility of ice formation, and it is necessary to promptly judge and handle them. If it is determined that ice is forming, the manufacturer must be notified in a timely manner to cooperate with the processing, and never solve it by yourself!

2. After the normal operation of the water pump, if the cooling water temperature is lower than the minimum temperature allowed for the laser machine to start, it cannot rise for a long time. The set temperature of both cooling water and normal temperature water can be set to 5 ℃ higher. For other issues, see the instructions or notify the maintenance personnel. Finally, the set temperature of both cooling water and normal temperature water must be adjusted to the specified set temperature value (generally, the set temperature of cooling water is 20-25 ℃, and the set temperature of normal temperature water is 25-35 ℃).

4、 Maintenance

1. Do a good job in the daily maintenance of the laser, regularly check the reliability, insulation capacity, and water circulation system of the high and low voltage wire connections of the laser, to prevent high-voltage sparks, poor wire contact, water blockage, and other phenomena that affect the normal operation of the laser.

2. Before starting the machine, it is necessary to check and confirm important parts such as the laser water circulation system and the protective mirror to prevent the water circulation system and the laser water cooling pipe from icing, freezing, and other faults, as well as the protective mirror from frosting.

3. Once the laser is frozen, it is not allowed to forcibly emit light. It is necessary to wait for the laser cooling system to return to normal before outputting light for operation. Forced light emission during freezing can lead to tube explosion, lens breakage, and other phenomena.

4. If the laser window mirror frosts, it is necessary to remove the window mirror frost and wipe it clean before it can emit light. If forced to emit light, it can easily cause the lens to burst.
