This week we upped our Glowforge Pro game by using Illustrator to convert a JPG into an SVG! We took a picture from Pinterest and converted into an SVG using the Illustrator Trace Image tool. Then, gave the laser scoring lines a blue stroke and the laser cut lines a red stroke. Exported the design as an SVG. Used the Glowforge UI App to import the SVG as a cut file. Selected the red layer for laser cutting, and selected the blue layer for laser scoring. Then, we cut out an 18″ MDF round using our X-carve.
We created a new DIY 3D Front Door hanger and made it available as a new kit for our store! We’ve used our Glowforge a couple of times now and have learned some new tips and tricks. In this video we show you how you can use Adobe Illustrator to make customized home decor!
