Aluminium and alloys

Copper and alloys
Pure copper (red copper) cannot be cut by CO2 laser beam due to its high reflectivity. Brass (copper alloy) uses higher laser power, and auxiliary gas uses air or oxygen to cut thinner plates.
Titanium and alloy
The laser cutting quality of titanium alloys commonly used in aircraft industry is good. Although there will be some sticky residue at the bottom of the gap, it is easy to clean. Pure titanium can be well coupled with the thermal energy generated by focused laser beam conversion. When the auxiliary gas uses oxygen, the chemical reaction is violent and the cutting speed is fast. However, it is easy to form oxide layer on the cutting edge. It can also cause excessive combustion inadvertently. For stability, it is better to use air as auxiliary gas to ensure cutting quality.
Alloy steel
Most alloy structural steel and alloy tool steel can obtain good trimming quality through laser cutting. Even for some high-strength materials, as long as the process parameters are properly controlled, a smooth and non viscous slag dressing can be obtained. However, for high speed tool steel and hot work die steel containing tungsten, corrosion and slag will occur during laser cutting.
